Receiving
When my racquet touches the ball . It goes outside table . How to recieve it if it is shorter or longer.
Hi Sonia.
The main thing is to angle your racket correctly.
Take a look first at the tutorial on Returning Spin Serves in our Training 101 section.
If the serve is long you can use a topspin stroke but still you will need to compensate slightly for the sidespin by the angle of your racket.
After the ball has left the server's bat, they can no longer affect the spin that is on the ball. Any movements after the contact are referred to as fake movements and are meant to confuse you as the receiver. You need to focus on the contact to read the spin.
