What advantages and disadvantages do you think there are in hybrid rubbers(rubbers with a euro/jap sponge and a tacky chinese topsheet)? Also, would you advise the use of these rubbers or is it better to just choose one or the other?
Hi Juan,
I quite like the combination of a softer sponge and tacky rubber. It tends to give the best of both worlds.
However, it is always a personal preference, but it is one I like.

Thanks for the reply! Also I recently purchased DHS Hurricane 3-50 for my new forehand rubber(Hurricane III topsheet with TinArc 37* sponge) and was wondering if this is a good choice for an intermediate player(USATT~1400-1500) or would you say that it might be too fast for my skill level?

Hi Juan,
Give it a go and see what it feels like for you. Then make the decision.

Do you have any info about Rakza7Soft and Victas 401 rubbers?
Are they these Hybrids?
Tushar Verma Posted 8 years ago
No, both the rubbers are tensor rubbers with slight tacky topsheet not too tacky like Chinese rubbers, That is why the are European rubber, maybe victas have a hard sponge.
Tushar Verma Posted 8 years ago
I would not say tacky topsheet but its grippy.

Thanks.
I hope I will one day have a chance to try some medium speed but extremely grippy rubber.
Tushar Verma Posted 8 years ago
Yes I know you will definitely try some of them. My personal suggestion for this type of rubber is Stiga Airoc/Airoc Astro, Donic Bluefire Series and Andro Rasant Powergrip, I is have tried them all and can say they are extremely grippy and most grippy rubbers with which is have played till now.

Take in mind I am a classical defender.
Currently I play with Rakza7Soft 2.0
It is quute fast, but I do not want it to be faster.
Rather i want more spin,as much as possible.
Tushar Verma Posted 8 years ago
If you are a defender go for Stiga Airoc Astro S rubber and thickness 1.7 or 1.8. It is grippy and produces amazing spin, even if you play away from the table the rubber has a low throw angle which will help you to keep the ball just above the net, and rubber can also produce powerful shots when needed.

Sorry go for 1.3 or 1.5 mm sponge.

For defending with grippy inverted rubbers you should definitely check out the 'Victas VS > 401' or 'Victas VS > 402 Double Extra' (faster). These rubbers are known to be extremely spinny, especially when new. They are also developed especially for (modern) defensive play and chopping!
Another option would be the 'Butterfly Tackiness Chop' series, They're really popular rubbers that seem to fit what you're looking for. I can't say if they are more spinny than what you have however.

Tushar,thanks for your suggestion.
Arjan:
Yes,Victas 401 is a rubber I definitely want to try, partly because it is said to be invented by my Idol himself.
I have already tried Butterfly Tackiness rubbers, but I was displeased by them.
Tackiness Drive was practically spinless.
Tackiness Chop was very grippy and spinny, but I play at long range and I had to use a lot of power even with offensive blade.
It was too slow even for me.
After all,it is the slowest inverted rubber I can get.
I was not able to get the ball over the net from my usual distance unless chopping very hard and firm.

Butterfly Tackiness is a type of Chinese style rubber by butterfly but i guess they should leave this work to DHS.
D K Posted 8 years ago
I wouldy say that it WAS.
tackiness Drive was completely nontacky.
