Hi Alois I have a problem with my forehand topspin consistency I get around 2 out of 10 in. Could you tell me how to improve forehand topspin. Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Consistency improves with better technique.  Take a look at our lesson on  the Forehand topspin in our Strokes & Techniques section.

I think the most important part of all of it is your finish position.

Another possibility could be that you are using a blade/rubber combo that is too fast for you to control.  If that is the case, try using a blade/rubber combo rated for all around play.

Hi Thomas,

You can tell someone to observe your strokes while you hit the forehand topspins. There can be a number of reasons why your shots are not landing in. Alois' point is the most important one of them. Also you may be hitting the ball flat. Your rubber must brush the surface of the ball. Also try to rotate your hips and shoulders and bend your knees. All these contribute to a successful loop.

If you are doing these correctly can be verified if you tell someone to observe your strokes and work on their observations.
