Hi Deepa,

In this situation it is always best to go to a professional. Try to join a gym and get some proper advice.

Hi Printhan,

Generally when someone hits the ball hard with spin we call this a topspin and not a smash. A good way to return a topspin is to use the block.

When we are talking about catching smashes-today I have played a match with a 11-year old child,But I was devastated.

He is unable to do any real attacking stroke,he just uses a stroke (something between lift and counterhit,it is slow, with very little spin, but still too strong for a push and too low and short for attacking) or he pushes.

He was very vulnerable against my sidespin topspin serve,so he always returned about 40-50 centimetres high ball.

But when I smashed it,I was almost never successful.

I deliberately counted my smashes

I did 22 smashes
One of them was successful
3 of them were into the net
the other 18 smashes he catched standing closely at the table and returned it exactly under my elbow
So I tried to use a loop, because he did not play a long ball which I can chop.

But he always blocked it in the same manner.
Any advice how to deal with it?

First think about you stroke.  Learn it as we have shown in our lesson on the Forehand Smash.  Then maybe you need to think more about placement of your smash.  Even if it is a little slower, try to catch him where he is not expecting the ball.
