hi(again) im an advanced player and i have been teaching my friends a little and i was wondering which would you rather recomend for them to learn first when it comes to swings for example the forehand should they learn how to hit it hard first or how to aim at a specific place.

thanks in advance

Hi Bjarki,

Definitely get them to control the ball first.  Make sure they can hit the ball on the table 100 times before they start to hit the ball too hard.

Teach them the forehand counterhit and backhand counterhit then move on to the pushing and then topspin.

Just wanted to add my agreement to Alois' suggestion of learning push and THEN topspin.  I see too many lower level players try to emulate top players by hitting fast topspins without ever developing a good pushing game.  If you skip that necessary step, you will seriously compromise your development as a complete table tennis player in the future.
