Strategy
Good afternoon from Peru. I would like to know how to take advantage of my left hand against other rivals who are also left-handed. It happens that I go to a table tennis workshop for people with disabilities; I am the only one who uses a wheelchair and the others have mental retardation in different degrees. Only one of them is left-handed and with him we always have interesting games. At that moment I realized that I have serious weaknesses to respond to the right side of my field, which has brought me many problems in decisive moments. I would like you to help me solve this problem that always happens.
Thank you for your answer!

Hi Pablo,
Try to play more shots to his forehand side. This will mean that you will tend to get more balls coming to your left or forehand side as well. In the rally you an even play the ball really wide tot he forehand corner which will give him less chance to angle the ball to your backhand side.
When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.
