How did Liam Pitchford defeat the mighty cloud Walker Xu Xin?
Hi Jasper,
Yes it was an incredible match by Pitchford and like usually happens in these situations there is an element of luck and the better player not playing to their usual high standards.
Pitchford played some good tactics playing a little more short and wide to Xu Xin's forehand area but of course you need to play a few more good balls in the rally to get through a player like him. Watch out for a couple fo the inside out forehand topspins by Pitchford in this match and also his pressing backhand topspin.
The fourth building block of table tennis focuses on developing your serve and return, the starting point of every rally. A strong serve puts pressure on your opponent, while an effective return allows you to take control of the point from the start.
Mastering these skills is critical for success in both training and match play. By improving your serve and return, you’ll gain an edge in every game and set yourself up for victory.
Our tutorials of serving and receiving will help you develop building block 4.
