Dear Pingskills,

Is it possible to compose a light weight bat (150-170 gram) that can go with the highest level. So u are able to beat the top ten male with it?

If possible can u give an example of blade and rubbers?

Thx!

Hi Peter,

I will hand this one over to the experts.

I would think a Balsa blade of some sort may be the best option for you.

Definitely Balsa.  I have made quite of few recently that come in under under 170g but it also requires light rubbers too so hard, max thickness rubbers are a no-go.  A good balsa blade with rubbers of 1.8 mm or less in a mid-weight, mid-hardness will do the trick.

For blades, check out the hand made Re-Impact range by Achim Rendler in Germany.  For rubbers, something like the Yasaka Rakza X or Xiom Vega Pro would be a good start.

Thanx!

I 've always played with all wood blades like Andro super core cell all+, Yasaka extra and Joola greenline medium. Atm I'm recovering from a tennis elbow and need a lighter setup. Balsa looks like a good option but i'v never played with it. Will it be feel very different? What do u think of Donic baracuda 1.8 on both sides. I know this rubber well but its also on the heavy side.

Peter.I understand you are recovering from injury, though I hope you understand that the bat itself does not win matches, but the player.
The lightest possible bat would be Balsa blade with thin rubbers, which would result in low spin cracky combo.
Though, depends on the rubbers. Being a heavy equipment user now,I cannot judge too much as I started with BalsaCarbon blades and switched out of them due to them being not very controllable for me and also they got destructed easily.
I havent tested many types though.
Everyone can like something else.
