Living in a town with no TT club

Good Morning,

I live in a country city that has NO Table Tennis club. The nearest one is about 1.5hrs drive away. A local indoor sporting arena has tables available to use on a Friday night for a few hours but no competition or training provided.

Do you recommend purchasing my own table and playing at home,  using a robot when alone and inviting friends to help train?

Do you have an recommendations on how to start a local TT club in our city?

Thanks in advance

Hi Mick,

I think the best thing is to do as you are doing and try to start a small group of players.

The first thing would be to find a venue.  If you think your home is OK then start there or go to your local council and see what is available in the area.  It doesn't have to be big just somewhere to fit a few tables so that you can have 8 to 10 players come along.  You can always expand if it becomes more popular.

Purchasing your own robot would be an idea if you can't find other players but if you can find a few people that would be much better.

Let me know how you get along.

If you are thinking of getting a club together, download the USA Table Tennis Club Development Handbook.

It's a great source.
