Long Attacking Push

I have a question about the long attacking push. While playing it, do I need to give a lot of jerk with my arm?

I use only the part of my arm ahead of my elbow. Is it okay or I need to utilise the full arm?

Last question, it should have more or less backspin?

Thanks,

Kaustubh.

Hi Kaustubh,

All strokes can be smooth, just you can move the arm through faster.  For the long push, get the wrist and forearm to do most of the work.  The spin will come from the movement of the wrist more than anything.  Also make sure you are brushing right under the ball by opening up the angle of your racket.

If you are going to push long, it is better to have more spin on it so that it is harder for your opponent to make an attacking stroke.
