Long Break

Strokes

Hello PingSkills!

It's a long time since my last question here. Now, I've moved from the place where I live before and play a daily game. Now I play only once or twice a month because the table tennis club from where I live is quite far. And as I play earlier after 3 months break, I got frustrated at first but regained most of my strokes later. But when I got into a match with a senior there, I can't make a third ball attack from my Pendulum Backspin serve(i'm a leftie and my opponent is right handed). My question is what should to return it/what stroke to return or attack it because when i try to return it with a forehand that is almost vertical, it just dont make it across. Should I make it more on the forward?

Thanks

-Ron

Hi Ron,

If you are finding that the ball is not going far enough then make more of a forward stroke.  You can also think about increasing the speed of your swing to get the ball further.

Don't worry about the break.  It will all come back to you soon.

Snake Shot

A snake shot is a type of stroke which is specifically used against a drop shot. It is usually loaded with a heavy spin so that the opponent finds it difficult to counter. The type of spin can be backspin, sidespin or topspin depending on your choice. You need to make a movement after hitting the ball to confuse your opponent.

And another thing, when i'm having drills with them, i felt that my hits lack spin on my counterhits and are a bit slow specially on my backhand and they're like effortlessly do the same with higher speed. I use 729 fx BH and markV FH and i looked at theirs, and its xiom vegas and butterflys they're using so do you suggest that I go for faster and spinier rubbers? or just train with these first? Thanks again

Yes a faster rubber may help in this situation.
