Hi there,

Ive just started coaching a young kid and he is using joola orca on the backhand, long pimple with a sponge.  Im not real sure how to coach this. he is actually doing very well with not much advise and seems to have a good feel for it. so ive just been playing to it with different routines etc.  he plays up at the table and blocks and tries to hit with them.   Ive been trying to get him to attack after doing one push and this has seen some good results,  i was thinking about investing in the Dr neuabar vids but dont know if that would help.  the idea that i have,  is that his style would very similiar to a player with normal rubbbers.   any ideas would appreciated .

cheers

Hi Andrew,

The backhand with Long pimples is a very different stroke. Teach him to go straight down on this strpke first, like a push.  He can experiment with different angles depending on the amount of spin and speed you give him.

The idea is to keep the ball low over the net and get some effect off the pimples.

Attacking after the push is ideal.  The long pinple stroke aims to get a defensive return from yuor opponent that you can attack.
