Missing the ball completely

Strokes

Hi,

I have been playing for about 5 months now and have improved alot thanks to your instructional videos. I have this problem where occasionally I completely miss the ball altogether. Mostly this happens when I'm about to hit a topspin forehand. I'm aware sometimes I take my eyes off the ball. What can I do to address this?

HI Justin,

Watching the ball is really important.  I think this alone will help you to get better contact with the ball.  Also try having the face of your bat a little more open so that the ball is seeing more of the face of your racket as it approaches.

Focus on these two things and see if it helps.

Timing your forehand

Timing can help you to improve your stroke. It can also be a reason that you are struggling with your stroke. By changing the timing you can change the type of ball your opponents is facing.
