MUST I learn to finish my stroke high

Strokes

Your tip on move, stop, hit was very valuable and you showing me how to take my three fingers off the paddle on the serve had amazing results. Thank you.

I have been playing this game for over 55 years and I am having difficulty changing my stroke (or learning a new stroke) so it finishes up high by my eyes. What is the reason for this high finish and what are the bad results of finishing lower? My start is correct and I do not cross the center line but I finish the stroke much lower. Must I change?

I was a tournament handball player and have two bad knees but I have a robo pong and practice almost daily plus I play on a 9mm taraflex surface and play hard matches about 3 times a week

Hi Gary,

It is good to know you have made progress with the serve and movement.

For the forehand stroke the reason I like the higher finish is because you have more of the surface of the bat facing the ball during the stroke and it becomes a safer stroke.  You can finish lower if you are getting good consistency doing that but I think the higher finish will give you better control of the ball.

Try training this way with the Robopong and see if the change works for you.  Just focus on the finish position.
