Hi Muhsin,

Nerves are a natural part of playing a big match.  If the match means enough to you, then you will be nervous before it.

The key is to be able to find a way to get yourself to play as close to your best as possible.

One simple method you can use is to focus on playing your best table tennis. This may work for you.  Before the match think about the tactics you are going to use to play your opponent.  Often against a penhold player it is good to play a slower topspin to their forehand, as blocking with the forehand can be more awkward with the penhold grip.

Before each point focus on where you are going to serve or if you are receiving focus on what your basic tactic is for the point.  By breaking the game down into each point you will find it more manageable.

Remember that everyone gets nervous so your opponent will be going through the same as you are and maybe even worse.  Just aim to get out there and do your best.
