As a beginner I am confused as to why different rubber is used on both sides of the blade.

Also, I think I need a blade and rubber with control, There are so many to choose from, how do you narrow the choice down?

Hi David,

You can use the same type of rubber on the backhand and forehand and that is what both Alois and I do. However one side must be red and one side must be black. This allows your opponent to easily see which rubber you are hitting the ball with if you do have different rubber on your backhand to forehand.

There is an incredible amount of table tennis equipment available and there are a lot of good brands to choose from. We don't try to keep up with all the different possibilities as it would be more than a full time job!

That's why we recommend the PingSkills Rook as an ideal first bat and the PingSkills Touch as a step up. We've tested these and now they are good bats that you can develop your game with.

Thanks Jeff, wondering  if I should go for your PingSkils Touch as I used to play as a teenager 60 yrs ago, have recently taken an interest again as my older! brother wanted a lift to his coachiing lessons. I have had an hour with the coach, which convinced my that I needed more practice.

I have bought myself a RoboPing 1050 robot, which is fantastic, and a table for indoors, not consistent yet but getting there with chop and drive both bh and fh, trying to leave fewer balls on my side of the net!!

I have seen on various web pages including yours I think that the rubber you are selling with the bat is a good alround rubber.

What blade are you using with your bats ?

I am in UK, is there a supplier here, as it could be expensive importing etc

cheers David

PS love your web site, loads of info available with a great attitude.

Hi David,

Welcome back to the sport. It's great you are improving your skills. I hope you can beat your brother. :)

The PingSkills Touch is an allround blade which provides good control. We only sell them on our website and at the moment the shipping is $11.50 to anywhere in the world. If you want to purchase something from the UK, you could go for the Stiga Allround Classic. There is a lot of good equipment available so as long as you get a reputable brand you can't go too wrong. It's the practice that makes the difference!

Thanks for the kind words about our site and good luck with your table tennis.
