Hi Coach,

Is it necessary to show the ball in the palm like in your picture and then throw the ball at least 6 inches high or it can be tossed without showing as well?

Hi Shaji,

The rule says that you hve to have the ball in your open palm.

Here is an extract from the service rule.

2.06.01 Service shall start with the ball resting freely on the open palm of the server's stationary free hand.

It is a fairly easy thing to practice as you have time to get yourself set up.  YOu can form a little bit of a cup in your hand with your thumb.  Make sire you take a couple of seconds to get this right before you serve the ball when you are practicing.  The you won't have any problems when you are playing in competitions.
