I was wondering what the difference is between Chinese penhold and Japanese penhold, and the difference between the bats.

Hi Jacob,

The Chinese penhold have their three fingers curled on the back of the bat.  The Japanese have the fingers straight.

You can use your wrist more with the Chinese grip and you get more control with the Japanese grip.

The Chinese tends to use a shakehand type racket head while the Japanese bat is more rectangular.
