Hi Alois,

Thanks for the advice on bat types... can I just ask though, what exactly are the dimples for... if you want to add massive amounts of spin should you always go for longer dimples etc?  Does a smooth surface prevent you from effectively applying spin?

Many thanks,

Donna

Hi Donna,

The flat surface or inverted pimples actually allow you to get MORE spin. This is becuse there is more surface area touching the ball when you spin it.

The longer the pimple the less spin you can get on the ball. Short pimples allow to get some spin yourself.

If the surfac eof your inverted pimple is shiny and slippery you will ntot get spin.
