Hello there,

My names Ahsan and today I need to ask you a question about how do I practice table tennis alone? I've been playing table tennis from quite a while now and got my hand on forehand topspin but my backhand is weak, I got no training partner with me so can you suggest me how do I practice backhand alone at home?

Hi Ahsan,

It is difficult to do alone.  You can hit against a wall but it is not the same.  It is best if you find a training partner or get someone to learn how to feed multiball.  See the section on Multiball for some help with that.

Lobbing Tactics

If you get pushed back from the table don't just give up the point. Try and and get back into the rally. By lobbing the ball high and deep you give yourself time to get into position. If you can then get some topspin on the ball to force the smasher further away from the table then you are likely to get a weaker smash and then you can take your chance and try to counter attack!
