Equipment
I have been playing with a pre-assembled butterfly csaba racket for a few years. While getting back into the game, I cannot control the racket like I used to. I am thinking about replacing the rubber with the Mark V using the same blade. Would you recommend doing this?
Thanks..
Hi Bill,
This should be OK. The wood looks reasonable which is the most important part.

I believe the pre-assembled paddle is almost as good as the modern butterfly Trebuchet model. I have also played with the senshu racket but it was a little bit lighter than the csaba. The old foam is has gotten pretty hard over the years. Do you have any recommendations on taking rubber off?
The current rubber that is on the paddle is the Butterfly Flextra.
Thanks.

To get the rubber off, start from the outsides and work your way in slowly. IF the sponge sticks too hard on the wood, you can use something like Acetone to help you to remove it. Any sort of solvent will help.

After at least an hour of playing with the hard/cured foam from the old blade, I have opt to do it right and get a blade. Because it would cost too much to get one online(blade+shipping), I have found these two blades as options locally. Any thoughts on which one is better?

Bill,
They are both suitable. I have known players that have used and liked the Primorac. You can't go wrong with either though.

How long should I wait until I can start playing with the new blade? I just installed the Mark V on the blade.
Big Thanks for the how-to video as well!

You only need to wait a few minutes if it is water based glue. Maybe an hour if it is any other glue.

Thanks for the quick response. I used the butterfly free chack glue.

It will be ready by now. It only needs a few minutes.
