Ways to find weaknesses

Strategy

Good news. I finished my second tournament and improved to 1-2. Last time i was 0-2. I still play at the 1400 level though. Hopefully, our next club tournament i hope to make it to the bracket with 2 wins.

Anyways, for my question. Do you have any match advice regarding looking for an opponents weakness. Are there anything tests or you guys do to spot weaknesses before playing a match? E.g. Forehand drills, Chopping, etc? There a quick way to see where one has a weak side?

Hi Chris,

Well done on your tournament improvement.

To find other players’ weaknesses try to observe a previous match of theirs if you have that opportunity.

If not, then in the warm up try to get the feel of their weaker side by hitting a few topspins to each side.

Then when the match starts you will get the real information.  Play to a few different positions and also experiment with your serves during the first game especially.  Serve to both sides but also with different spins and see what they look comfortable with.
