Hi Anil,

Without seeing you serve this is a little difficult.

Concentrate on the contact of the bat on the ball.  Are you getting spin when you are away from the table and getting the ball to spin on the floor? If you can do this concentrate on the type of contact you are getting and then try to translate this to the table.  Don't worry about where the ball goes first, just concentrate on generating the spin.

Please let me know more and we will see if we can help.  The other option is to go to our Analysis Section and send us a video of yourself.  This will make it a lot easier to analyse.

hi..Alois....nowadays i am struggling with my topspin because i have started to play  table tennis  after a long time.almost all my shots either hit the net or land on the floor.i guess it is because of lack of quick movement and fitness.please suggest a way so that i can fix this problem

Hi Gaurav, I think go back to consistency first. Maybe you are not putting enough topspin on the ball to get that consistency. I don't mean a big topspin stroke, just getting a little bit of topspin on the forehand so that the ball has a bit of dip in flight.

Hi Matthew,

Try brushing the ball faster but also make sure you are getting a fine contact on the ball.
