Discussion
Hi,
I just started playing table tennis at my local sports club after being on a "hiatus" for over 10 years. However, I now have glasses, and as I start to sweat they start slipping down my nose.
It's not too bad as I play, mostly as I tilt my head down to pick up the ball, but it's still frustrating. Is there a good solution for this?
Regards,
Daniel
Hi Daniel,
I haven’t used glasses to play. We have had some previous discussions about glasses that may help a little.

It would be good to get others opinions here that may help you.
If you are having a problem correcting an error in your technique, then try this great tip. Think about learning a new stroke rather than correcting an old bad habit. The change in thinking will allow you to learn the new stroke without worrying about your old bad habits.

Hi. I play with glasses and I have that problem and sweat on the glasses too. My solution, whilst not stylish, does work. Head sweat band and glasses tie back strap. You can get tie back straps that are made for sports. Works a treat.

I agree with Peter,I have found very useful to use these.
My glasses are as thick as my blade,so they are quite heavy

Thanks for the answers!
I will definitely try out some straps. Googled up a few examples, and they look like they would do the trick.

Apparently, this is how specialized sport glasses look like today. I bet they're not cheap.
Obviously, to minimize the slipping on the noze issue, use the lightest frame and glasses possible (more expensive, of course).
Silicone pads hold on better then ridig plastic pads.
Lenses definitively solve the issue, if you can use them.

I am quite curious if these sport glasses are more expensive than my own glasses.
They cost about 220 pounds

I have fairly heavyish glasses, and what's really helped me is just wearing a decent headband. Prevents sweat from dripping onto the nose and causing the slipping there. I keep a glasses strap handy but haven't had to use it since I started wearing a headband.
