Problems on "dead" balls

Strokes

Hello Pingskills. Can you suggest me a way to improve my game on soft, no-weight balls? these are the balls one should just kill making holes on the opponent table, but I find myself far more comfortable returning on strong long balls or counter-attacking topspins. It's a bit awkward that I can't handle easy balls... Thank you very much!

Hi Emanuele,

Easy ball are only easy if they are easy... Might sound silly but...

If you find the slower balls with no spin difficult to play then they are not an easy ball but a difficult ball for you.

To deal with these, you need to work with topspin and think more about placement and then move your arm through the stroke a little faster to generate the speed.  Make sure you keep the shape of the stroke the same when you speed it up.

Banana Flick

The banana flick has become one of the most important returns in table tennis. It allows you to attack almost any short ball and places your opponent under immediate pressure. Still it is a difficult stroke that takes a lot of practice to master.

Thanks a lot, alas you're right (it's not easy for me). The shape of the stroke could be the key as you said, probably I just mess it up when I have too much time to think. Probably I could try and record myself to see what exactly happens. Thanks again!
