Equipment
Hi, I would like to know if you could let me know your advice on the decathlon table tennis bats. Decathlon is a company focusing on more affordable sporting equipment. I've been playing for a week now with now good opposing player (someone to practice consistent shots with). The one guy said my bat is too slow. I purchased the ttr 130 which the site says is focused on beginners.
It seems to have a bit of spin and I'm weary to purchase a bat here now as I'm in Vietnam and many fakes are sold. Should I get another bat. The only way I will know is if you could please test the decathlon versions out. I would really appreciate it. Thanks for the great help so far. I'm learning a lot on your youtube channel and will dig into your website as soon as possible.
Hi Peter,
I haven't used one of those bats but they look like they will be OK for a beginner with some inverted rubber on it. However it will probably be very slow and won't last you very long in your development.

Decathlon bats are not for competitive play.
They wear out within weaks and can only hardly have their rubbers succesfully replaced.
Maybe the most expensive models have somevalue, otherwise only for recreation play.
Personal experience.
Here we buy these bats only in leisure centre clubs where only recreational players usually go.

Surely its slow, these bats mostly have nothing to do with quality.
The quality of table tennis equipment is not defined by their price, but there is still some bottom level under which there are rarely some good bats.
If you mean the table tennis at least a bit seriously,I would not go under 50$ for a new complete bat.
At least in my region,I am not aware of prices in Vietnam.
Also,I would not buy premade bats,it usually hugely affects their quality.
