Receive problems

Receiving

Hi Alois,

There is player in my local club whose serves I have problems to receive.

Mostly he starts from the forehand side. He swings the bat with his backhand from right to left and not from left to right which is normally done by a backhand serve. And he touches the ball quite under the bat and not from the side. So if I receive the ball goes far to the right out.

How could I react correctly ?

regards

Peter

Hi Peter,

You need to angle your bat to your left to counteract this type of spin.  It has similar spin to a Pendulum serve.  The tricky part is that he is just using the backhand side of the bat which gives you a different picture to deal with.  Once you have seen it a little more you will start to get used to it.
