Serving
Hello coach, this is nizam from kodagu, karnataka. I am a table tennis player and i love this game. I play in my college as there is no other facility outside. I have developed my game a little bit with the help of the videos provided by pingskills and i am very grateful for this. As there is no coachings available here, videos were my only assistants. I am a left - handed player and i am using Donic Blackdevil wood with donic coppa and donic sonex rubbers.
I have spotted a weakness in my game and i hope you would help me. It is that my recovery speed is less. I mean like whenever i do my service, obviously from the right hand corner of the table, I am not able to recover back to position to attend the ball sent by the opponent. Its like by the time i do my service and recover back to the position, the opponent would have sent the ball past me. The is troubling me very much and i am losing my game mostly because of this. So i hope you would suggest me a good solution to cover my weakness.
Hi Nizam,
As part of your service action move into position as you finish your serve. This should all be part of the same motion so that you get to the ready position quickly. Practice this during your training time. Make it one smooth action to get to your basic ready position.

One tactic you can do in the short terms (while you improve your recovery motion) is to mix in more backhand serves. I find that recovery from backhand serves is much easier, probably because you don't crouch as much and your feet are closer to ready position.
