Strokes
I find that after I serve, I am not able to get into my ready position to attack the next ball. So I end up with an awkward stroke. So could you give me some tips on how and where to recover after serving?
Hi Jasper,
It is about following the ball. The next position depends on where you have served the ball and also your prior knowledge of what your opponent is capable of. There is not one rule as each player and opponent is different.
If you follow the ball it will mean generally moving to a position in the centre of the area of their possibilities.
The other key is to remain active and mobile through your service action and move straight to a balanced next position.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
