Returning sidespin serves

alois sir how can I retreat or push the ball back to the table when my opponent is using a backhand serve or a pendulum serve whenever my friend does this serve the ball goes opposite to the court. how can I correct this?

Hi Aditya,

If they are right handed and they do a Backhand serve the ball will hit your bat and go to the left.  Therefore you need to angle your bat to face the right.  

If they are doing a Pendulum serve the ball will go to your right when it hits your bat.  Therefore you need to angle you bat to face the left.

The amount of angle will depend on the amount of sidespin that is on the ball.

This takes time to learn to do naturally so try to get as much practice as you can returning different serves.
