Reverse Pendulum grip

Serving

Hi Alois

I am able to effectively do the short reverse pendulum consistently however I have problems in changing the grip quickly back to the shake hand to make the 3rd ball attack or an effective return.

The grip i use for the reverse pendulum is to have the thumb on the top of the blade on the rubber  with three fingers at the back and I do not hold the handle . The opponent is able to notice this and makes a flick or fast push into me and at this point of time I am changing the grip and get stuck on the return.

What is the best way to avoid this. With this grip I am able to get a lot of spin of my reverse pendulum and vary it as well in terms of backspin/topspin but get stuck sometimes in changing the grip.

Thank You

Grenville

Hi Grenville,

Perhaps the answer is just to keep practicing the change over of grips.  If you have found something that works for you with the serve I think this is now the best option.  You can even practice this away from the table while sitting and watching TV.

If this doesn't work over the next month then you may have to modify your grip to a little more conventional grip.
