Rubber chipping

How do you prevent rubbers, especially soft rubbers, from getting chipped? I am very careful with my soft rubber. I don't hit the table with my bat but I still find the said rubber chipping, how could I prevent this from happening? In addition, is it still okay to use chipped rubbers in competitions? Will its performance diminish?

Hi Mario,

One of the easiest ways is to put some edge tape around your bat.  Get the wider tape that covers the side of the sponge and even the side of the rubber.  This will help.
