Coach, how come my rubber chips even if it won't get bumped to another surface? Is is still okay or allowed to use chipped rubbers in tournaments? Is the performance diminished?

Hi Mars,

The rules says that the rubber surface has o be evn. if there are too many chips they not allow you to play with it.  The performance is not diminshed because you rarely will hit the ball with that part of you rubber.

Try using Edge tape to protect the rubber.  This will help a lot.

You may not even realise that it is brushing up against things as you play.  Perhaps your leg, or shirt.
