Hi Alois and Jeff
3 question about rubbers
1. should i re glue the rubbers every now and then for speed purpose ? and what do they mean by tunning the rubber ?
2. what is the effect of the thickness (1.9 ,2.1 ) on the rubber ?
3. What is the effect of the density (32 ,36 ) on the rubbers ?
Thanks & best regards
Mohsen
Hi Mohsen,
You don't need to re glue your rubber. Once it is on you can leave it.
Tuning is a different thing. It is illegal to tune your rubber. With tuning you are applying a chemical to the rubber that will enhance its performance.
The thickness of the rubber effects the speed and spin. The thicker the rubber the more spin and speed you will be able to generate.
The density of the rubber makes the rubber harder or softer. It will give you a different feel. The harder the sponge the less the ball will sink into the rubber. The more the ball sinks into the rubber the more potential it has to put spin on the ball. Of course the top sheet of rubber will also effect the amount of spin that you are able to generate.
Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.
