How important is to throw the ball as high as you can?and how do you need to hit the ball?

Hi Cristi,

It isn't important to throw it up as high as you can but you can throw it high to generate some more spin. This is one variation of serve.

You need to practice the throw a bit as well so that it comes down in the right spot for you to hit. A lot of the other basics are the same as for other spin serves. You need to contact the ball with a brushing action and then with plenty ofbat speed to generate more spin.

All of this will be covered in the Serving Secrets Revealed DVD. which will be released in June this year.

Practice it a lot and it will get better.

I know it's illegal to hide the contact of the ball with any part of your body, but how about making contact with the ball below table level? I think this would physically be possible but is it illegal because the table blocks the point of contact?

You do have to hit the ball from above the level of the table. I have attached the ITTF rule.
2.06.04 From the start of service until it is struck, the ball shall be above the level of the playing surface and behind the server's end line, and it shall not be hidden from the receiver by the server or his doubles partneror by anything they wear or carry.
