Serve stance

Serving

Hello PingSkills Team,

having been practising service and having watched some powerful serve videos, I became confused about what the correct serve stance is (I mean, pendulum).

Some players use tall stand (Samsonov,He Zhi Wen),some are "lying at the table" (several Chinese masters), some of them are in the middle of it (mainly Euro control-type players).
Some of them hit the ball a bit higher, some lower, some close to the table, some further....

What would be the most correct one?
Or does it depend on the spin type and direction of the serve?

Thanks
DK

Hi DK,

The players that use the High Toss tend to stand more upright.

There is no right and wrong.  It is about how quickly you can get to the ready position for the next ball.

The Kicker Serve

The kicker serve is one of our "must learn" serves. It's fast, fun, and has lots of topspin. It can be dangerous because if it's not fast enough and if you don't surprise your opponent then they may be able to attack it forcefully putting you on the defensive straight away. Used well though, and sparingly, it can be a great weapon. It can win you a point outright and it will stop your opponent from standing over the table waiting for your short serves since they need to be ready for anything.

I only asked because I discovered one thing: no matter of my stand,I always swing my hand at or slightly above waist level.
This is the reason why my serves look so weird.
And I was trying to find a way that allows me most deception, spin and speed at the same time.
Because I am so slow that I can get to the ready position only if I force the opponent to lunge heavily with my serve.
(i.e. I cannot get to the ready position fast enough if my serve is short or predicted easily)
