I have been playing table tennis for several months now but still i've not been able to serve quite well. Can you please teach me how to serve a very difficult serve. Perhaps a back-side spin serve.

Another thing I need more tips on penhold grips.

Hi Sandesh,

Serving is a big part of the game.

You need to focus on contacting the ball with a brushing action.  To do a sidespin serve with backspin you should contact the ball on the side of the ball and under the ball.

If you can, get yourself our Serving Secrets Revealed DVD you will get a lot of tips.

Serving with the penhold grip is exactly the same except you don't need to alter your grip like the shakehanders do.

learning serves can be a long and very frustrating process. the important thing to remember is, the skill is not going to come over night. A good way to develop your skill is to; buy a pack of 100 balls and practise your serves. It sounds like you havn't been playing table tennis for two long what i would say to you is; try to learn the basic principles of serving first. also learn the techniques of countering those serves
