Strokes
When I use the shake hand grip position shown in the video my thumb ends up on the rubber, and my index finger lays across the bottom of the other side and seems to hang off the paddle. It doesn't feel very comfortable. Is there a shallow and deep version of holding the bat? Because I can pull my thumb down on the blade just a bit and it doesnt feel like my wrist is so locked plus my index finger is pulled back. Am I completely doing things wrong or can this work?
Hi Eric,
You can use both the variations of the shakehand grip that you describe. It really is best to go with what you feel most comfortable with. As long as you have the basics of the grip then you will be able to develop your strokes correctly using the shakehand grip.
Generally if you slide your thumb down the racket a little, this grip is used by more offensive players and if you place the thumb a bit higher it is often used by more control type players.

Is it OK to curl the tip of the index finger around the edge of the bat, or is it better to leave it straight hanging off the bat?
Hi Arnaud,
Either way is OK. If you have a long finger you may need to secure it around the bat.

today I 'd held my bat with only the thumb and the index finger , the others fingers don't wrap the bat it was very good, too much zen and relax, top spin very easy, I think we have to be very relax on the bat and a very limp hand , is it right?
