is it legal to use shouts when hitting the ball? i use that to confuse and psyche my opponents.
Hi Shahan,
You are not allowed to distract your opponent deliberately so you are not allowed to shout while hitting.

if that is so is stamping while serving illegal ? my thought is that your feet make a noise while playing so when is it a distraction ? as far as I know stamping while serving is not illegal any further comments ?

And what if a Chinese player shouts "Cho" before the ball hits the ground ( soon after the opponent misses) ? is that not allowed too?

You guys view the table tennis rules too complicated^^ThereĀ arent such things written down. Especially in higher ranked matches there is always a referee, who will handle the rules discretionary. In lower classes most people wont care unfortunately, but as a player theres nothing that you should do and can do about these things, except talking shortly to the referee. The core point for the referee deciding here should be always if it is unsportsmanlike or not.
For the first example of the questioner it would be the case, for the further examples it wouldnt be unsportsmanlike.
"Cho" and stamping are seen critical by many players tho and it shouldnt be overdone, but its nothing a professional referee would punish.(If it is all done at the regular and fair timing! cho, after opponent misses is ok)
In general "Cho" is just setting free the emotion and tension after a point is made and the stamping has the tactical goal to hide the sound of your specific rubber side during the stroke and serve and maybe even to gain a bit balance.
I just want to add that after the rule for black/red rubber sheet, there is no need to do any of these things to play the best table tennis - > Jan-Ove Waldner :P
Always stay fair! (sa zk ) (>.<)

Edit: The shouting/moaning from dima ovtcharov, when hitting the ball is tolerated for example and also allowed as it seems, many other players do that too, but its not done on purpose, its becaue of the exertion and there is no bad intention behind it.
