To get that spin you need to come under and across the ball a little. If the ball was facing you and it was a clock face, you should brush the ball at between 4 and 5 or 7 and 8 to get the backspin sidespin.
Once you've mastered the start and finish position of the forehand topspin, you can start to focus on finer details.
