Hello coach, what do you think about a very slow blade ( defensive ) for the feeling and with speed rubbers or normal blade ( all +) with less speed rubbers? I like control, I play short, long left , right, and when my opponent in not in good position, I finish, generally with my backhand, difficult to write in english , I am 65 old but  I run like a young player. thanks to understand me.

Hi Martinand,

I like the feel of a slower blade and faster rubbers.  The faster rubbers will allow you generate enough speed and spin and the slower blade will give you the control and allow the ball to sit on your bat for a little longer.

Let me know if I have answered the correct question.

Hi, probably a defensive+ or an allround- blade would be best for you. The size of the blade is important, too: I've played with a not-so-slow defensive blade for some time now, and am enjoying excellent control with all strokes - not only because the tempo is reduced, but also because the blade is oversized. (This seems to make some sense, for hasn't the ball become larger, too?). It takes some time adjusting, of course. I also enjoy the feel of thinner spinny rubbers (1,2-1,5), some of which are excellent for a controlled topspin game

I would say an All-round would be OK too.
