Slow Spinny Sidespin Forehand Topspin

Hi Alois and Jeff good day to both of you! :) 

I have encountered a slow yet very spinny sidespin forehand topspin, which is hard to block coz it flies away, what do i do? thanks in advance!  :)

Hi Samuel,

This can be difficult to deal with.  I find it is easiest to either topspin it fast which will counter a lot of the spin or use a push.  If you are going to push it then you need to deal with the spin on the ball.  Because the ball doesn't have much forward speed the sidespin will take more effect.  You need to angle your bat to counteract the spin.  Use a really soft grip as well to absorb some of the spin.

These types of shots often don't have a lot of topspin and mainly sidespin.  You can even push under the ball because it will feel like they have a bit of backspin as well.  Like dealing with any spin, it is a matter of getting the angle of your bat right.
