Hi Yash,

I see this happen a lot. So much in fact we filmed a master class for our premium members called Forehand Followup. You've pretty much identified the problem. Your first stroke needs to be a bit more vertical to lift the backspin. Then your opponent blocks the ball back and it comes back with a little bit of topspin. So you need to then adjust your stroke and play the Forehand Topspin Against Block stroke. It sounds simple but because the strokes are similar and you've lifted the first backspin ball, the tendency is to play the same stroke and lift the ball too much. You need to change your mindset and realise that the next ball is just a topspin and adjust your stroke accordingly.

Give this a try and let me know how it goes.

Hi Yash,

It will take some time to get this one right.  Start to think about the brushing contact on the bottom of the ball and then you will start to get the backspin on the ball.  Watch it again and see if you can replicate it.
