Are soft rubbers offensive? What are their distinct capabilities compared to hard and medium rubbers?

Hi JM,

Soft rubbers are not necessarily defensive.  Some defenders like hard chinese rubbers to chop with as well.

It depends on the speed of the rubber.  Usually defensive players will play with a slower rubber to be able to control the topspins.  You may also consider using a long or short pimple rubber on the backhand to gain better control.
