Dear Alois,

I have been playing ping pong for about 2 or 3 years now and I still am very confused on how to return different spin serves.  It seems as though whenever they do a heavy spin serve to the left I always hit the ball way out one way and the same thing happens for the other way, how are you supposed to return these different spin serves?

Thanks -Kevin

Hi Kevin,

One of the keys is to not try to do too much with the ball.  Just use your bat as a rudder and steer the ball back.  Don't try to play across the line of the ball just put your bat in front of it at the right angle.  So if the ball is going off to the right, aim your bat to the left and vice versa.

We will be making a full DVD on this topic as it is an area that many players find difficult.
