Alois and Jeff,

Have you ever thought of filming a close up slow-motion video of how a ball bounces off different bat/rubber combinations. You could show how long pimples and anti affect spin and how spin is generated off reverse rubber compared to wood. Might take some specialist cameras though?

Maybe someone has already done this - if so do you have a link to a u-tube video?

Lastly, thanks for all work, so much from your site has helped my game improve.

Hi Nigel,

This is a good idea.  We don't have the super slo mo capabilities that you see on TV.  We have tried to show some spin in some of our videos.

There is a good animation on long pimple that I like to use from Greg Letts.  Take a look at this one. How Long Pimples Work

Though,is there anything similar for short pimple rubber?
I know it is said to decrease the spin, though,as I played with my coach who uses shortpips,I did a heavy loop into his passive bat and got a light topspin back.
Next time,I performed even heavier loop into his passive bat again and got a heavy backspin back,so I am  confused.
He did not do any stroke at all,he just inserted a slightly closed bat into the ball's trajectory in both cases.

The ball can slide off the short pimples as well if the pimple doesn't cope with the amount of spin so then it will feel like it comes back with a bit of backspin.
