Hi Alois,

Offten against my dad when he chops, I make one topspin and the next one I hit it into the net! And he's a player with S.P.

Thanks,

Ian.

Hi Ian,

Often when you topspin the first ball the next one will come back heavier. Because the ball is already rotating in that direction, it is easier for then to make the ball spin with backspin.

Just use a more vertical stroke on the second topspin or push the second ball and wait for a better opportunity to make a strong attack.

Tactics Against Penhold Players

When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.
