I've noticed that in table tennis, a lot of the professional players wipe the top corner of the table every now and then.
I wouldn't have thought that they would use that bit of table very often.
Do you know why this is?

Hi Kai,
They are usually wiping the sweat off their hands. They use that part of the table because the ball doesn’t bounce there very often.
The thickness of a table tennis table is the most important aspect of a table to ensure you get a true consistent bounce. Other things to consider are the net, portability, and storage space.

Does it affect that part of the table?
No, it doesn’t. It is also a part of the table that the ball very rarely hits.
