Sturggling with my forehand

Strokes

Hey Coach Alois,

Really enjoy the videos but am having a huge problem with a basic forehand drive. I've watched the videos and am really trying to focus on the finish position like you recommend.  Practicing with a robot and while my backhand drive has become very consistent say 55 out of 60 over a 2 minute drill, with my forehand drive the result are rather dismal.  Shortening to a 20 second drill and a ball every 2 seconds, I'm sometimes able to return 2 out of the 10 on the table.  Most are leaving the table about 2 feet high.  The placement is consistent but the results are anything but.  Feet are good and finishing around the eyebrow but still no consistency.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi,

Try to contact the ball a bit flatter and earlier.  It sounds like you may be hitting the ball a bit later as the ball is rising which will mean that the ball will go up.

Try to hit more forward and still finish with the bat in the right position.

Hope this helps.  As a Premium member you can also send me a short video of you playing the shot which may allow you to help you more with this one.
