Training
Dear Alois and Jeff
I recently feel like I have deproved. I always forget to move and my consistency is 10-20%. As a result I always end up playing "safely" or more defensively and then I end up lobbing. How did this happen and how can I overcome it?
Cheers
Hi Oliver,
This happens sometimes. The most important thing is to remain focused and keep training through it. Even the best players feel like this sometimes.
As you develop your confidence the shots will get more attacking and you will stay closer to the table.
Most drills involve one person performing the exercise and the other placing the ball as required by the exercise. We call this person placing the ball the controller. When you are acting as the controller it is a great opportunity to practice your blocking and concentration. As blocking is an important part of the game you should be 100% focused at this time. You also owe it to your training partner to be blocking effectively so they get the most from their exercise.
